I started my 2 mares on a forage only diet 3 years ago after finding out my chestnut mare is allergic to basically everything in grain and that’s why she looked so poor. I found K.I.S trace about 2 years ago and have been feeding it ever since. This product is AMAZING. They have never looked so good, no matter what grain I tried. I have not had an abcess, both my horses walk over stones with no ouchies, no chips out of their feet (even when I slacked on having them trimmed after I had my daughter). One bag lasts my 2 roughly 40 days & I combine K.I.S with chia seeds, elevate Se, & salt. This diet is my horses must.

I am not usually someone that is easily wowed by products. I just use the ones that you can actually see a difference. I now currently have all of my horses on KISTrace powder. I also use the KISTrace GI Pellets for one that is slightly nervous. I have posted pictures below of a Mare I have have, when I bought her she was always dull looking, she was 3! I just thought it was her baby stage. As she got older nothing really changed. UNTIL I found KISTrace! It has been life changing for all of my horses and my feed program! But the proof really showed up in this mare! TRY IT and Thank me later! LOOK AT THOSE DAPPLES

I want to thank you for providing such a great supplement. My horse Billy has been on it since May this year and it has worked wonders. I have 2 more friends/clients who will likely be switching to it as well. Not only was Billy on a high NSC diet (25%), but the farrier his previous owner had been using the past 2 years did not do him justice leaving long toes and cutting away the heal and frog which lead to a Caudle failure in his left front hoof that I am still rehabilitating. He had terrible center sulcus thrush as well which lead to his entire frog sloughing off in all 4 feet. Since going on my diet is alfalfa pellets, KIS Trace low SE, and ground flax he is doing great. The thrush is resolved, his frogs have grown in healthy and strong and my farrier has balanced his feet. He also has an amazing shine that makes him look like polished silver! Images: (1) Left hind: L May 2022, R August 2022 (2) Left Front: L May 2023, R August 2023 (3) Posture more relaxed: top May 2023, bottom August 2023 (4) Showing how shiny he is. This photo doesn’t do it justice really. This is straight out of the field, no grooming.

I think my boy looks pretty good for 26 years old. Gets KIS Trace mixed in beet pulp daily.

  2. I learned about K.I.S. when my mare appeared to have metabolic syndrome. She had her first foal that year and had been on a mare and foal feed. I had anticipated weight loss while nursing and she was getting the recommended amount, but turned out she was an easy keeper and was gaining weight. When she had a bad bout of laminitis I began feeding K.I.S.Trace. After several weeks on a dry lot, soaked hay and K.I.S. she recovered but she and my other horses have been on K.I.S. ever since. My mare’s feet have better growth, she no longer struggles with terrible seasonal allergies, my gelding who had terrible midge allergies and awful skin is now finally growing a mane (we had tried ALL the shampoos, skin treatments etc) and my coming 2 year old filly has a tail that touches the ground and a mane well past the bottom of her neck (without primping or braiding etc – she’s 100% turn out). They all also keep a nice shine, even out in the brutal Florida sunshine all summer.

  4. Very high-quality and balanced minerals, my horses all love to eat it over their hay pellets/forage based diet. They are very fast at shipping their orders out. I refer folks all the time–love it so much.

Q & A

What is the source of the “vitamin e supplement” and is it natural (alpha-tocopherol) or synthetic? Michelle asked on February 20, 2024

It is consider lab altered or (synthetic). We use it for the 10 % availability to the horse and as a preservative to the product. If your horses are on an all hay diet you will need to supplement more E. Thank you for the question.

Why does the pelleted form list a percent protein but the powdered form does not? Looking at this for a PSSM horses that requires low protein. Cara Martin asked on December 22, 2023

Hi Cara, It is the difference between mills. I use one mill for the pellets and one for the powder and one puts the protein on and one does not. The protein level in our product is irrelevant to a protein level compared to the total diet. It is a low protein number in both. Is horse PSSM 1 or 2?
