Here at Thorne Bottom Farm ‘TBF’ we feel that within the horse feed industry feeds have, over the years, become mostly fortified, high fiber, concentrates and thus a certain food element may be missing. Our goal is to bring a healthy feeding of grains back to equine management with knowledge, controlled portion and quality.
Certain simple factors must line up to make the most out of feeding actual grains to livestock including horses.
Whole grains will only digest if chewed by the animal (birds love to go through the left overs) thus why we pellet the grains for easier digestion plus we add in a natural preservative to keep the food stable for a longer period of time.
Horses do benefit from extra calories of grains (seeds) when in work or in need of extra weight and certain nutrients that come from grains. Working with a non-GMO food supplier is the safest way to insure a clean and more wholesome food.
Palatability, organic trace minerals and nutrients plus non- GMO? Horses will really benefit.
TBF Horse Food was developed in partnership with a PhD in Equine Nutrition.
When using this product you do NOT need to top dress the K.I.S.Trace line because we realized that adding in K.I.S.Trace as part of the fortification would make life a bit easier at feeding time in the barn or in the pasture. Plus combining the two would be cost effective as well.
TBF Horse food is a real food, with zero by-products such as beet pulp, wheat middlings or soy hulls. 12% Fiber comes from oat and barley hulls and other gut friendly ingredients.
We use non GMO food ingredients from Sunrise Farms a certified supplier, soy free and with K.I.S.Trace technology built in, convenience comes into play and your horse will still benefit from organic trace mineral fortification.
When you consider that this is 3 products in one it will saves time and money when adding up the total daily cost of 3 products.
With sufficient nutrient fortification to fill gaps, and natural Vitamin E to assist with E shortfalls in winter and all hay diets.
This pelleted formula is for active horses, in work in need of extra calories or energy. For example- Buggy and equipment horses, endurance, show, trail and more.
Low feeding rate of 1 pound per 500 pounds of equine.
Very palatable and horses will fall in love with this food.
