I have been feeding KISTrace pellets for 4 or 5 years now. My OTTB endurance horses are on a high-quality hay-only diet; no grain (not even beet pulp)! Their body scores are 5-5.5, and they look fabulous. KISTrace GI version provides them with the minerals they need, and O&A hay provides them with digestive health. I highly recommend getting your horses off grain and moving to a forage-only diet supplemented by KISTrace!

  4. This is the only palatable vitamin/mineral pellet with low/no selenium that I can find. My picky mare loves the taste (she will eat it dry from my hand), and the nice folks at Thorne Bottom Farm were kind enough to send me a free sample first to ensure she would eat it. Shipping is also free and fast, so it’s easy to restock. I am very happy with this vitamin/mineral pellet, and my mare is looking great on it, even in winter!

  5. I really like your product. My rescue mare who came to me with Pneumonia, horrible feet, and underweight is now fat, happy, healthy, and her feet are fabulous! Thanks!

What product would you recommend for western Washington? Seems the location question crops up a lot. Do you have a map that shows what selenium level product recommended for certain areas? Does your product cover all essential amino acids as well? Thank you. Megin asked on October 20, 2024

Washington is a low Se state, the whole state would be. Yes there is a general Se map on our website under resources tab. Our product covers the three limiting amino acids lysine methionine and threonine. Hope this helps.
thank you

What selenium level product would you recommend for SW lower MICHIGAN? Margie Leazenby asked on October 16, 2024

Hi Margie, any of the original versions will do but bare in mind not to use any other products that contain selenium unless horses are in heavy work.

Live in Apopka, FL Using KIS for both horses. Question is I'm using the original pellet. One horse has FFWS and the other has started to show the same symptoms. Would the GI pellet help? Also I'm looking into the benefits of Vitamin B's in the horses diet. Do you offer any of the B's? Note: both horses are on herbal treat supplement for their gastric issues and have been for the past 60 days. Pamela Fredrick asked on October 16, 2024

Send me your number on email and I will call you about this. thornebottom@hardynet.com

Can KIS trace mineral pellets be fed alone? Should it be paired with alfalfa pellets? Allyson asked on August 30, 2024

Hi Allyson, Some horses have been known to eat the pellet version by itself but that is the exception not the rule. Mixing either version with hay pellets or alfalfa pellets is a good idea.
